Friday, 16 September 2016

Did you know 140 million pounds of unwanted clothes are being thrown away in the UK every year! Here's a challenge to get those unwanted clothes out of the back of your wardrobe and onto the catwalk! This is your chance to showcase your creative sewing talent through upcycling with our competition in partnership with ICHF events.
We challenge you:
• To make an upcycled garment by including at least two or more pieces of clothing in the construction of a single garment.
• Dramatically and creatively change the original form of the garment.
• You can create a pair of trousers, skirt, jacket etc. it’s all down to you but it must be an upcycled make.
• You can use additional notions, interfacings etc. to assist in the construction of the garment but no other additional fabric is allowed other than the clothes you are looking to reuse.

If shortlisted you will get a chance to showcase your piece at the Sewing for Pleasure show in March 2017 as well as winning some fantastic prizes...
The ‘Top Prize’ winner will be presented with a Janome sewing machine worth £479 and a Creations by Korbond Sewing accessories package worth over £100. The 2nd and 3rd place will get a Korbond Sewing bundle worth over £40.
