Dressmaker Tools

Sewing is an ancient craft dating back to 30,000 BC used primarily for stitching animal skins, furs and other materials using a needle and thread. Sewing today is still used to make or repair clothing such as a torn seam or replacing a button. Thimbles are used as a sewing aid to protect the finger when pushing a needle through fabric. Interestingly in the 1800s they increased their versatility by becoming a measuring device for spirits in local hostelries, bringing about the phrase “just a thimbleful!”

The Korbond Dressmaker range offers everything for the home sewer to the professional tailor; from measuring and marking to complete sewing kits. This traditional range uses the very latest materials and technology such as fibre glass in our ‘non stretch’ tape measures and the non tarnish alloys in our thimbles to ensure the highest quality, whatever your level of sewing expertise.
